Wekume, translated from Luganda as "Protect Yourself," is a revolutionary mobile app dedicated to empowering university students in Uganda with easy access to sexual and reproductive health resources. Our mission is to support young people in making informed decisions about their health, while also fostering their personal development and entrepreneurship. Wekume is a one-stop platform that integrates health services, educational resources, and business tools – all aimed at creating a safer, healthier, and more empowered generation.
Our Story
The journey of Wekume was inspired by deeply personal experiences of loss due to HIV within our founder's family. Witnessing the impact of HIV on loved ones sparked a commitment to make a difference by addressing the gaps in reproductive health access and education among students. The idea started as a small initiative with friends, and it quickly grew into a comprehensive mobile app that would serve as a safe space for young people to access crucial health information, resources, and support.

Business Development and Entrepreneurship Support: Wekume also aims to be an incubator for student entrepreneurs by providing mentorship, workshops, and fundraising resources to help young people develop business ideas, pilot projects, and build sustainable enterprises.
Exchange Programs and Internships: We dream of facilitating exchange programs within Uganda, giving students the opportunity to explore different regions, gain diverse perspectives, and grow personally. Additionally, we intend to connect students with internship and volunteering opportunities, helping them gain valuable work experience and practical skills.
Inclusivity and Support for Minority Groups: Wekume is committed to inclusivity, ensuring our resources are accessible to marginalized student groups, such as refugees. Our platform tailors services to support these groups, providing a safe, inclusive space for everyone.
